WOW! I just returned from the Children’s Miracle Network Broadcast – and I want to say a very big THANK YOU to..................
WOW! I just returned from the Children’s Miracle Network Broadcast – and I want to say a very big THANK YOU to everyone who helped make miracles this year for children. Thank you, thank you, thank you! (Did I say, thank you??!!) This was the 25th Anniversary of CMN. Mommy was reflecting on 25 years ago . . . she helped to open the Epcot Center that year. PacMan, Smurfs and Cabbage Patch Dolls first became popular. (Whatever THOSE are!) Jane Fonda wrote her #1 workout book. (Mommy says she remembers sitting on the couch, eating chocolates, reading that one!) People were going crazy for Chia pets. (Mommy says “I think the same person who came up with Chia Heads also invented hair plugs for men! She’s funny!) And then she got a little tear in her eyes as she remembered how she and other people who really care about children sat around a kitchen table, sharing a plate of tuna sandwiches and coming up with the idea for Children’s Miracle Network.
Mommy has a really special connection to the Champion Miracle Children. She really loves them. She and her good friend, John Schneider, (who is cuter than anything you can imagine! Too bad he’s not single; younger; shorter and made of porcelain!), went to a yummy breakfast with the kids with really cute waffles shaped like Mickey Mouse, and had their pictures taken with every child, and with Mickey, Minnie and Goofy, too! (No – Donny wasn’t there . . . it was the dog, Goofy!) (Mommy is rubbing off on me!)
Mommy got to sing on stage – some of my favorite songs . . . her Broadway medley (I wish she’d do that again!). After she sang “Climb Every Mountain”, the audience with over 2,000 people stood up and started clapping! That was really cool, but even cooler was when they all stood and cheered for the children and their miraculous attitudes and positive outlooks on living life to the fullest.
One Wal-Mart manager who attended said it better than I could, when she told Mommy, “After spending time with some of these Champion children, I said to them, ‘You will probably never remember me, but I will never, ever forget you.’”
Thank you to all my adorable friends out there who make miracles happen!
(OH! I snapped a few backstage photos to show you! There is Mommy with her back-up singers and friends, Sharon and Debra; Mommy relaxing with (ON!) her girlfriends – Connie (fixes her hair), Marsh (writes really funny things), Sharon (sings), Ranelle (Florida friend – you may remember her from the Becoming Butterflies brunch), and Debra (also sings). Then there is Mommy with Marsh and Marsh’s mom, Jeanette – who happens to be a wild and crazy doll collector! Rumor has it – she has ME in her front room!! (May I commend you on your adorable taste!!! Giggles!) |

That would explain a LOT about your Mommy, AB...all those chips off her block for all these years! (Love ya, Marie!)
My 17-year old son just came home yesterday from Phoenix Childrens Hospital only four days after his open heart surgery. As your Mommy well knows, PCH is a CMN hospital. All the people there were so good to Jordan and his family. I'm so glad he was treated there. I guess I better go to Wal-Mart and buy some more balloons!
I'm sure Mommy rocked the house with the Broadway medley. That was the highlight of the four concerts I attended. Well...Santa was a close second!
Better polish your porcelain, AB. The next few weeks look very busy for you. Keep us posted by posting!

Thanks for sharing! I wish we still got the broadcast of CMN in the Dallas/Fort Worth Texas area. Wow, CMN is the same age as my niece Laura. She will be 25 on June 24. My family has also been on the receiving end of CMN and I truly appreciate all the wonderful work that you do. Here's to 25 years of caring and may it continue another 25 years!
Hugs, Pam |

Tell your Mommy I am greatful to her for the local Children's Hospital here in New Orleans, because every time I've brought my Grandson Nick in, those guys were great and very attentive. Hi Adora Belle, I watched the telethon locally and plenty, plenty money was collected for the Childrens Hospital here in New Orleans. I was hoping to see your mommy sing, but only my local station was shown. (I hope I didn't miss your mommy & her back up singers. They were great at the Christmas concert. I am so happy to see Ranelle in the picture. I met her at IDEX. I've been praying for her. She is such a delightful person. I'm happy to see her at this event. |

Hi Adora Belle, Thank you that your little light shines so brightly with all you do for CMN. That these children and their families are not alone and have so much support and can feel the love. This goes a long way in helping to heal and to uplift the spirit. What a blessing! Keep shining little girl!

Adora Belle How special it must feel to make a difference in a child's life, just like you and your mommy. I met her in Orlando once and your little sister shoes got lost while I waited in line for a signing. Your mommy gave me one to replaced it on the spot! She is ONE SPECIAL MOM!!!
Hugs & Kisses, Rosemary |
