Belonging to the Gaoshan people from her country of Taiwan, MaShawu wears a black wool outfit adorned with specialized patterns of intricate needlework created by her ancestors. Believed to ward off bad luck, copper bells sway along the edge of her capelet.
*Eighteen colorful pom-poms encircle her headdress representing the 18 different tribes of the Gaoshan. The white feathers are symbolic to attracting a prospective sweetheart.
